In another successful simultaneous anti-drugs operation by the Tarlac Police Provincial Office (TPPO), 14 suspected pushers were arrested and 2 others were killed in a shoot-out from whom a total of 31 sachets of shabu and marijuana and 2 guns were seized.
The one-day province-wide operation was led by TPPO Director PSSupt Ritchie Medardo Posadas and is part of the police’s Oplan Double Barrel Reloaded.
Posadas said, “we were not expecting a shoot-out, but 2 of the targeted drug personalities refused to surrender and shot our policemen, hence, they were killed”.
The armed encounter happened in Barangay San Fernando, Victoria town, between the joint operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) headed by PSupt Luis Ventura Jr and the Victoria Police Station and the 2 drug peddlers.
According to PIB chief, the 2 slain suspected drug peddlers categorized as Death in Police Operation (DIPO) were Arnold David and Joseph Tanedo, both residents of Barangay San Isidro, here, who both yielded caliber .38 pistols with fired cartridges.
“In all, 14 suspected drug-pushers were apprehended, 21 sachets of shabu and 10 sachets of marijuana were seized beside the 2 guns recovered from the slain 2 drug personalities”, said Posadas.
Posadas also revealed that “La Paz Municipal Police Station (MPS) has 1 anti-drug operation with one arrested drug personality, Bamban MPS 1 operation with 2 arrested suspected pushers, Capas MPS has one operation with 2 arrested, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit 1 operation with 1 arrested, Paniqui MPS 2 operation with 2 arrested, Concepcion MPS 1 operation with 2 arrested, Camiling MPS 1 operation with 1 arrested, Gerona MPS 1 operation with 1 arrest and Tarlac City PS 1 operation with 2 arrested drug personalities”.
When Posadas took over as provincial director last January, from being No. 8 among the 9 police commands in Region 3, Tarlac became No. 2 in terms of over-all police accomplishments.
Since August 5, when PCSupt Amador Corpus took over as Regional Director of PRO3, TPPO have already arrested 208 suspected drug personalities most of them pushers with a total of 420 sachets of shabu and marijuana confiscated.
There were, however, 12 DIPOs from the armed encounters during entrapment operations of suspected drug dealers.
